Website planning

How much should a garage website cost?

Compare scope, ongoing costs and control, not just the headline price of a website.

By AllTerrain Digital ·

The short answer

Cost depends on content, design, service scope and integrations. AllTerrain Digital’s complete website is £999 + VAT, with optional maintenance and hosting at £39.99/month + VAT. These are our published prices, not a claimed industry average.

Compare like-for-like deliverables

A template with text supplied by you is different from a studio handling positioning, copy, design and launch. Ask what each supplier delivers and what you must prepare. A low headline price may still require substantial time writing and organising content.

Identify your audiences, services, enquiry process and available evidence. A restoration portfolio needs a different content structure from routine servicing; a bodyshop may need photos before discussing an estimate.

What AllTerrain Digital includes

Our complete website costs £999 + VAT at one fixed price. The published package includes positioning and messaging, copywriting, website design and build, SEO optimisation, three rounds of amends and launch support.

Optional maintenance and hosting costs £39.99/month + VAT. It covers hosting, updates, SEO and small tweaks, and can be cancelled anytime. Confirm practical handover arrangements before cancelling a service your live site depends on.

Ask about recurring and third-party costs

Request a written explanation of domains, hosting, software licences, booking systems, payment fees and support. Which costs are included, which are paid directly, and which can change? Optional software is not automatically part of a website build.

For custom integrations, agree who maintains them when the external supplier changes its system. Clear written scope is more useful than a vague promise that everything is included.

Check access, ownership and changes

Ask who controls the domain and website access, who supplies photography, what counts as an amendment and what happens if you change provider. Ensure prices are clearly shown before or after VAT.

These are questions to ask any supplier, not promises about deliverables that have not been agreed. Put your answers in the proposal so both sides understand the work.

Judge value by the customer journey

Test whether a visitor can understand your services, recognise relevant experience and enquire easily on a phone. A striking design that hides contact details is not doing the whole job.

Do not purchase on a guaranteed ranking or AI recommendation. Search visibility depends on factors beyond the build, while useful enquiries also depend on your offer, evidence, capacity and response.
